5 Stars Vizio 22″ LCD Works Great
I bought mine at COSTCO one month ago. The on-screen letters/numbers are 1/2 inch in height so I find them perfectly acceptable because I can see the channel numbers clearly. The picture is fantastic. I have no problem changing channels…it takes about two seconds for the channel to change. (I’m using TimeWarner Cable.) The Vizio name at the bottom of the frame is a soft orange when it’s off, and a soft white when it’s on, so it’s not a distraction in the kitchen where I have the set.
2 Stars Over Sharpend
I’ve had this TV for a few months now. There is a lot to like about it, but… even with the sharpness turned all the way down to zero the image is still HEAVILY sharpened. Not only does this make video/tv look funny and more noisy, it makes small text really hard to look at when playing video games or using as a computer monitor. Every edge looks like a double line that your eyes can’t focus on. And completely forget about using Photoshop or doing any image editing, since the monitor doesn’t show you the actual image. Side by side with my laptop, there is no comparison. The laptop has no sharpening and is much, much easier to look at and the text much easier to read.
I don’t know what VISIO’s problem is. I hate this stuff. Its great that they have a sharpness setting for people who want it, but zero should mean zero, i.e. no sharpening. They must have some marketing person or product manager whose dumb idea it is that everybody would want pixel level sharpening on all the time.
5 Stars Vizio 22″ FHDTV 1080p ….Mine is fine!
I bought the Vizio 22″ 1080p LCD at Sams Club. The model number on the manual is(VO22L 10A) I’m not having any of the problems that the other reviewer is having like the slow channel or the small font on the channel display. I bought my first Vizio three years ago and have bought two more for the other rooms. None of them have given me any problems yet. Is it possible that there is something in the setup on his/her dish/cable receiver that could be causing this?
Remember, if your TV is acting strange, there is a real good possibility that you are in need of proper setup. With all of the options in dish receiver and TV setups these days, it’s really easy to have something on the wrong setting.
One easy way to find out is to hook up a good old fashioned set of rabit ears and run your TV’s channel set-up. If your television doesn’t find digital channels, move the antenna or TV into another room and try it again. My experience is that location within the house is far more important than the quality of the antenna when receiving HDTV signals over the air. A lot of these TVs won’t tune into a channel unless it has previously found it during setup… even if you manually punch in the channel number!
Once your TV has successfully found the digital channels during setup, try moving the TV back to the location where you want it. There is a good chance that your TV will be able to pull in the signal. Be patient and experiment with different locations.
5 Stars Very pleased: good TV at a good price
This TV was easy to set up and it works great. Appears to be a good value. I bought it for my kitchen and would recommend it. More positive reviews for this set can be found on Target.com.
4 Stars Excellent as a Monitor, Too
Like another reviewer, I bought the Vizio VO22L at Sams. My first Vizio, I’m impressed by it. Due to space limitations I need to use the same device for both computer monitor and TV, and the Vizio works great in that role. (According to Sams Club’s web site, theirs is model V022LF (which is the model Vizio’s web site advertises), while the Amazon/Target model is V022L. It looks as if the part numbers are interchangeable, as mine (from Sams) is labeled V022L on the back.
In any case, the V022L has a nice display for HD content, but what impresses me more is the display I’m getting via a standard RGB connection to my desktop PC. I was worried that being unable to use the DVI-D connector from the video card would result in a degraded display, but the clarity at 1920×1080 through RGB is astounding (especially after running Microsoft’s ClearType optimizer). All I had to do was upgrade my (nVidia) video driver and connect the monitor. I wouldn’t think of using 1920×1080 on a smaller display, though, as (at least for me) the desktop features would be way too small.
Two (minor) complaints: the sound quality isn’t as good as I’d prefer (2x3W output), though for the PC it’s fine (and there’s a standard connector for audio input to the monitor); and, the remote lacks a dedicated source button for RGB (there’s one for each of HDMI, TV, component, and AV), so I have to use the Input button to scroll through the list to select RGB. Those are quibbles, though.
Another plus, the TV came with an HDMI cable.
I’d certainly buy this model again.

DIRECTV PLUS HR22 100 DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER NEW

DIRECTVs latest HD DVR receiver, the HR22. Packed with features – the HR22 boast MPEG-4 format compatibility, multiple screen format resolutions, and DIRECTVs popular DIRECtV+ PLUS DVR technology.
User Ratings and Reviews
1 Star Poor picture quality & reliabiliity, high lifetime cost
Expect your picture to randomly pixellate and break up while watching recorded shows. The sound is often out of sync with the picture. My unit failed after three months.
If you want to record two shows at once, you need to run another cable from your dish to the DVR. Directv will not fish through walls or go in your attic without extra charge, so beware of “free installation offers”.
The response time is very slow with the remote control. Switching between channels takes a couple of seconds.
You will pay a leasing fee and a DVR fee on top of your DirecTV service fees. (If you have multiple receivers/DVRs, you also pay a service fee. So that adds up to an extra $15 per month, even though you already paid a couple of hundred bucks for the box. It’s not your and it never will be. You will pay those fees forever.
You are also locked into Directv for 2 years. Cancelling early will result in an early termination fee. A big one. But Directv is free to raise your price during that time.
2 Stars Good, Slow, Shuts down, Extends Contract
The picture on this box is good. The features are good. Everything works as it should just slow. The box shuts down about twice or so a week indicating that the card is not in but you know it is. You lose a piece of your show and then it comes back on. If you call DirecTV, by the time the tech assistant gets on the line, the box is working. Trust me, they did not do anything to make it work. It will do it again in a couple of days or so. However, it is the best HD box that I have found so far that is compatible with Directv. I just found out last week after owning the system for 4 months that accepting the box from Direct TV means they automatically increase your contract for a year without notification. After complaint about the legality of the contractual scam, they sent me the fine print document. That’s why my next one I buy will not be through them or free. Once they get their claws into you they are not so nice to you anymore. Recommendation, do not accept box from DTV buy your own.
1 Star Crappy and slow
Crappy and slow. Enough said. Tivo is the gold standard. Directv service is just plain awful. The only reason to keep them is for Sunday Ticket football games.
1 Star Basic and unreliable – BEWARE THE USAGE AGREEMENT!
The DVR is very basic and does not give nearly the functionality of Tivo or other DVR’s out there. It’s had to be sent back several times due to equipment failures.
The user agreement and DirecTV policies are preditory. BEWARE THE USER AGREEMENT TERMS – THE WILL RIP YOU OFF!
After over 10 years of being a customer, along with millions of other Americans, I lost my job but was fortunate enough to be able to sell my home before going too far behind on it. Unfortunately, I had a 2 year commitment with DirecTV to defray the upgrade cost of HD DVR service. To them, not being able to use their service or have it installed at a rental property is not sufficient grounds to waive the early termination fee of $225.
Now comes the greedy part… Their policy now is such that they will charge you the early termination fee and the equipment cost UP FRONT directly from your bank accounts before giving you time to send the equipment back. For myself, this resulted in a nasty surprise charge of over $1,000 dollars of which nearly $700 is for the equipment (HD DVR and Std. DVR) which they will refund once they get the equipment back. Every other company I’ve ever dealt with in the past has given a little bit of time to return the equipment before assessing an equipment charge, particularly a substantial once such as this.
I’ll be posting this to other forums and review sites as well, but I would encourage anyone and everyone to STAY AWAY from DIRECTV!!!
4 Stars Can not record music channels
Like the receiver, if you have a current account then you dont need to buy one. DTV should have upgrade availability to this particular receiver at little or no cost. The only reason to buy one is if you wanted to add one to an existing account. And BTW you are not ‘allowed’ to record the XM music channels, nor are you able to record and view the recorded content later with out the receiver being ‘hooked’ into a dish. So based on this, if you are looking at doing satellite, get dishnetwork

3 Stars Can’t beat this price, but Your experience may vary
Ok – where do I start. You know the saying which goes “you get what you pay for.” Well this is certainly the case with these cables. I ordered a total of 6 of these cables. 4 seem to work perfectly, but 2 had problems which I will detail below.
The first cable was connected to a 1080p capable television, and it would not go above 1080i. Once I swapped it with another cable fm this manufacturer – the higher resolution was accepted.
The second cable with an issue, was connected to a television with a max resolution of 720. When my satellite receiver was set to push the 720p signal, the picture was there without any sound (weird, huh?) Once I switched out the cable to another cable fm the manufacturer – all was well. Basically I guess I can’t complain about these due to the price, but make sure you are able to check all your cables on all possible resolutions before you install them especially if you are hiding them behind a wall like I did. By the way, I didn’t send the bad one back since it would cost me more to ship them than just to take it on the chin at this point.

5 Stars Samsung LN19A650
Purchased this LCD to put into the bedroom of our motorhome and plan to purchase a 22″ for the front of our motorhome. These LCD’s save space and less weight. Excellent picture quality and like the features the remote control offers. Lastly, want to commend Amazon.com on the excellent service and response given to this buyer. Thank you so much.
5 Stars Great Picture
This little TV has a great picture and was extremely easy to setup. We also own a 46″ Samsung LCD and couldn’t be happier.
4 Stars pretty nice for kitchen…
Bought this TV for our kitchen. Picture quality is great and sound is not bad. The TV is also a good looker. Am pretty happy with my purchase. Get HD channels by air, and the pickup quality is also good.
However, I would make a couple of changes:
- Redesign the remote. It looks as “old-age” and the TV looks “new-age”!!
- TV start/stop time is slow…after you press the button.
1 Star WHy buy overpriced small “HDTV LCDs?”
Why would you spend almost $300 dollars for a sub-par, 19-inch 720p LCD, when you can find 22 inch LCD widescreens for ~ $150, that handle resolutions up to 1680×1050 and have built in HDMI. Don’t spend money on these overpriced LCD screens just because they’re labeled as an HDTV. Look for 22 inch LCDs and you’ll spend a fraction of the money for a better product.
5 Stars Samsung TV
Nice little TV for kitchen or small room. Good picture quality, easy to set up.
